For my overall genius hour project I think I did really good on it because of my mitigation technology. I thought the idea I had was very good. I think my bowl with tin foil and and legos as buildings was very good and I was proud of the final result. I think me preparing for the presentation also helped me a lot. This is why I think my genius hour was so successful.

This week for genius hour I worked on my model mitigation and I have finalized my idea to present to the entire class. I also know the material I will be needing to Use.

How does the Tsunami dome help to mitigate the effects of a tsunami?

The tsunami dome can help save many people from a hurricane

The tsunami dome is made out of steel and graphene.

The tsunami dome goes around the perimeter of the city
The dome will look like a big metal ball going around the perimeter of the city.

The dome will have a small hole on the top so air is coming through.

The tsunami pod is made out of 2 very strong solids Graphene and Steel. This will make the strong waves just crash off of the dome.

The pod will be 900 ft high or 3000 yards.

The dome will fold up when a tsunami is detected using the device called the tsunami detector.

The dome gives the civilians enough time to get in the dome and be safe. Due to it taking a long time to fold up and you want the most people you can possibly fit in the dome
A tsunami is caused by a series of waves or other body of water generated by another natural hazard or disaster. The tsunami dome helps mitigate the effect of a tsunami by saving lives of many civilians. It does this by, The dome folds out around the perimeter of the city. Letting in all the civilians it can hold.
The dome is made out of steel and graphene. Steel is a type of metal. Graphene is one of the strongest solids in the world just like steel is too.
The dome height will be 900 feet tall and the distance however long the city is. For my studies I used Tokyo japan. I used Tokyo because it is a coastal city and a tsunami can occur there. Tokyo is about 5000 miles all around. The cost for the tsunami pod ranges in the million dollar. The dome will weigh tens of thousands of pounds. The tsunami dome should be purchased by government. I believe even though the tsunami dome will cost a lot of money it is still worth buying because it will save millions of lives.

On my presentation i revived an 8/10  on my rubric the 2 things that I failed to do correctly was say the cost the cost of my mitigation will be millions of dollars but every other question  I stated the majority was the yes.

tsunami is a set of ocean waves caused by any large, sudden disturbance of the sea surface. ("Tsunami" is a Japanese word that means "harbor wave.") Tsunamis may occur near the coastline. These are called local tsunamis. They can demolish coastal communities within minutes. A very large disturbance can cause destruction thousands of miles away.
Tsunamis are usually generated by large earthquakes in coastal areas. Major tsunamis are most common in the Pacific region. Beneath the Pacific ocean, dense oceanic plates slide under lighter continental plates. When plates break, a quick upsurge of the ocean produces a series of waves.

Tsunami Technology That helps humans stay safe during a tsunami

The giant ball that could save your life in a catastrophe: The Survival Capsule designed to withstand tsunamis, earthquakes and hurricanes (providing you're not too claustrophobic!)

  • Survival Capsule protects occupants against tsunamis and hurricanes
  • The ball-shaped pod can float and has air supply for one hour per person
  • Withstands sharp object penetration, heat exposure, and rapid deceleration
  • Capsules come in various sizes ranging from two to ten person capacity

  • A tsunami is a series of waves generated in an ocean or other body of water by a disturbance such as an earthquake, landslide, volcanic eruption, or meteorite impact. The picture at the left shows how an earthquake can generate a tsunami in the overlying water.
           Undersea earthquakes,

Undersea earthquakes, which typically occur at boundaries between Earth's tectonic plates, cause the water above to be moved up or down. Tsunami waves are formed as the displaced water, which acts under the influence of gravity, attempts to find a stable position again.
